eScan and eSlate Equipment Prove Reliability

published 02/06/2008

AUSTIN, Texas – Voters across California, Illinois, and Tennessee used Austin-based Hart InterCivic equipment to cast their ballots with confidence on Tuesday, February 5, in Super Tuesday Primary Elections.

"It's a huge year for elections, and Hart's equipment assures voters that their choices will be counted," said Hart InterCivic's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Election Solutions, Phillip Braithwaite. "The eScan is paper-based, so there is a clear record of the voter's intent, and the eSlate provides multiple copies of the voter’s cast ballot for auditing purposes while also providing accessibility features for those voters who need them."

Hart InterCivic provides counties in California with eScan paper ballot scanners and eSlate electronic voting equipment that includes the voter verifiable paper audit trail. Voters in Illinois and Tennessee also use the eSlate. During this Primary election by-mail paper ballots were scanned centrally on Hart’s Ballot Now digital scanning equipment.
