Hart InterCivic, a leading national provider of election management and voting systems, today announced that Pamela M. Cardenas, Project Manager for Hart’s ElectionReady Services team was designated as a Certified Elections/Registration Vendor (CERV). This designation is the highest achievement among election service professionals granted by The Election Center.
The CERV designation is achieved only through a multi-year course of study conducted by The Election Center’s Professional Education Program. The intent of the program is to professionalize the management of elections administration in promoting and preserving public trust in the democratic process. The core courses, taught by the Master's in Public Administration faculty of Auburn University include ethics, voter registration and elections law, planning, communications, and facilitating voter participation, among others.
“Obtaining and maintaining CERV status means an individual has committed to a career-long process of continuing education to improve the electoral process in the nation,” said R. Doug Lewis, Executive Director of The Election Center. “We are excited Pam has dedicated herself to upholding the same rigorous standards that are required for professional certification of election officials and has committed herself to the profession’s Code of Ethics.”
“Achieving CERV certification was a challenging and satisfying course of study through which I learned new skills and a deeper appreciation for the work of election service providers and election officials,” said Pam Cardenas. “This program is about the importance of nurturing and caring for the democratic process. As elections grow in complexity, certification is important not only to demonstrate our commitment to helping voters, but also to uphold the obligation of election service providers to assure that the process works.”
